Next Quarterly Forecast Released
Oregon's revenue forecasts are produced by the state's Office of Economic Analysis and released quarterly (typically in March, June, September, and December). These forecasts:
- Project General Fund and Lottery revenues based on current economic conditions, employment trends, income tax collections, corporate tax receipts, and other economic indicators
- Directly impact the state budget because Oregon must maintain a balanced budget - if revenues are projected to fall short of appropriations, agencies must cut spending
- Trigger budget adjustments - As Governor Kotek's letter mentions, the September 2025 forecast showed revenues would be $372.7 million below what was needed to fund the Legislatively Adopted Budget
- Provide planning benchmarks - The letter references upcoming December and March forecasts that will provide updated information requiring potential further adjustments
